What is COPPA?

The COPPA Rule was put in place to protect kids’ personal information on websites and online services — including apps — that are directed to children under 13. The Rule also applies to a general audience site that knows it’s collecting personal information from kids that age.

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA) Rule requires that we protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information collected from children (under age 13).   • Parents are given a generic username/password for the students to access the interactive classroom. No personal information is gathered from the students.
  • The Platform does not require children to provide their names, address, or other contact information to use the interactive chess platform.
  • The Platform does collect personal information from parents, teachers, and other adults (for example, if you enroll in private lessons)
  • We do not host third-party cookies or trackers that would enable the tracking of personal information on our sites.
  • We neither display advertising nor do we use personal information to advertise to you or your child.
  • Myfirstchessclub.com will not share any personal information of students or parents with any third-party service providers.

Summary

In order to be COPPA compliant, it is required to post this privacy policy on our website and provide notice to parents to obtain “verifiable parental consent” to use the services. Parents/guardians are given certain choices with respect to the use of services.
